"I am excited to be named Art Director for a magazine that focuses on college volleyball in a way that nobody ever has before," said Gordon. "I hope my dynamic prismacolour and paint style will transfer to the subscribers in a way that they can see the athletes and sport almost in a new light. Baseball is considered America's pastime largely because it has been featured in the timeless media of art so much more than any other sport. It is my goal to bring the most professional amazing art to volleyball."

Gordon began his professional sports art career at age 16 carrying on a family tradition of art in sports. Gordon's grandfather Earl did the cover artwork for a series of issues of Field and Stream. Gordon has been commissioned to do portraits of Minor League baseball and college basketball players.

"When I first was introduced to Jonathan's art, especially the lithocards, I was very impressed," said Ray Dise founder of the Collegiate Volleyball Update. "I have collected baseball cards since I was younger and have always thought it would be great to have volleyball cards as well. Add to that the quality of the artwork that Jonathan produces and I think that Jonathan will capture the exciting qualities of volleyball and preserve them in art. I am excited to have him as a member of the team."

Gordon began AOJ Studios in 2001 and created the lithocard concept which received publicity from Beckett's basketball card magazine and his studio gained fans after the publication of Mendoza's Heroes featuring Gordon's art on the cover and in the inserts.

AOJ Studios is a family run business with Jonathan's wife, Lindsay, working as the studio's business manager. AOJ Studios can be found on the web at
