The Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) is pleased to announce that Lipscomb sophomore Alex Kelly has been selected as the CVU.com National Player of the Week for Nov. 3 through Nov. 9.
A 6-1 middle blocker from Kansas City, Mo., Kelly led the Lady Bisons to a pair of Atlantic Sun victories with a phenomenal offensive outburst.
The sophomore started the week with an outstanding effort at USC Upstate, drilling 28 kills on a scorching .500 hitting. She was the only Lipscomb player to reach double digits as she had nearly half of the team's 62 kills with the match high. Kelly also added five assists, nine digs and three blocks in the 3-1 win.
In Lipscomb's next match, Kelly again carried the offensive load, hammering 14 kills while hitting .571. She added five more digs and four more blocks in the sweep of ETSU.
For the week, Kelly averaged a stellar 6.0 kills per set on a blistering .522 hitting percentage. She also added 2.0 digs and 1.0 blocks per set.
Currently, Kelly is ranked second in the Atlantic Sun in conference hitting percentage and kills per set, while overall she is hitting .338 on the season with 4.05 kills per set. She averaged nearly a block per set and 2.31 digs.
