The Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) is pleased to announce that Tulane sophomore Visnja Djurdjevic has been selected as the CVU.com National Player of the Week for Sept. 21 through Sept 27.
A 6-1 outside hitter from Zitiste, Serbia, Djurdjevic, a 2008 CVU.com Rising Star, set school and personal records in leading the Green Wave to a pair of victories to continue Conference USA play. To get its home league schedule started, Tulane swept Tulsa on Friday, with Djurdjevic tallying a double-double. The sophomore had 20 kills, 12 digs, two aces and a pair of blocks while hitting .318. Her big match came Sunday, though. Versus SMU, Tulane found itself in a back-and-forth battle, going to a deciding fifth set. But, Djurdjevic's all-around play helped seal the victory. The outside hammered home a career-best 29 kills, but not only that, set a school record by scooping 36 digs. She also added a couple more aces and three blocks. For the week, Djurdjevic averaged an incredible 6.13 kills and 6.0 digs per set. She also tacked on four aces and five blocks en route to earning Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors. Djurdjevic is the second Green Wave player to earn CVU.com Player of the Week accolades, as Sara Radosevic earned the award in 2007. In addition to the Player of the Week, CVU.com will be announcing selections for the Top Performers from the past week. These selections will include the Player of the Week and up to 10 others. Choices will consist of players who were finalists for the weekly honor and others who had exceptional individual matches. The additional selections will be based on nominations and CVU.com staff criteria. Top Performers
