A 5-11 outside hitter from Manhattan Beach, Calif., Carico, a 2008 CVU.com Rising Star, shattered a school record and turned in one of the best offensive weeks in program history.

First, in Friday's match against Clemson, the sophomore smashed the school mark for kills by hammering 36 on a school-record 83 attempts. Hitting .301 in the process, Carico also scooped 17 digs while adding a block and an ace.

If that wasn't enough, Carico became the first player in Miami history to record back-to-back 30-kill matches, by drilling 30 kills in a 3-2 win over Georgia Tech. That time the sophomore hit .306 and turned in another double-double — her fifth straight.

For the week, Carico averaged 6.6 kills per set on .303 hitting while scooping 3.3 digs per set. She now has seven double-doubles on the season and 23 for her career. She also has seven matches in her career with at least 20 kills.

In addition to the Player of the Week, CVU.com will be announcing selections for the Top Performers from the past week. These selections will include the Player of the Week and up to 10 others. Choices will consist of players who were finalists for the weekly honor and others who had exceptional individual matches. The additional selections will be based on nominations and CVU.com staff criteria.
