CVU.com National Player of the Week (Oct. 27): Kelsi Myers

The Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) is pleased to announce that San Diego junior Kelsi Myers has been selected as the CVU.com National Player of the Week for Oct. 19 through Oct. 25.

A 5-8 setter from Winter Park, Colo., Myers lead the Toreros to a pair of road wins to wrap up the first half of West Coast Conference play, keeping San Diego in a tie for first place in the WCC.

To get the road trip started, Myers tossed out 54 assists while connecting on four of five attacks and adding six digs as the Toreros hit .390 while dispatching Gonzaga 3-1.

To follow that up, Myers broke 50 assists again in a four-set match, dishing out 51 and turning in a double-double with 13 digs in a 3-1 victory at Portland. She also added an ace, a block and five kills as USD stayed hot by hitting .362.

For the weekend, Myers averaged 13.13 assists per set while leading the Toreros to a cumulative .375 hitting percentage. The junior also picked up nine kills on .571 hitting while adding 19 digs to average 2.38 digs per set.

Myers currently ranks second nationally in assists, averaging 12.19 per set, while San Diego as a team is ranked ninth in hitting percentage at .278.

In addition to the Player of the Week, CVU.com will be announcing selections for the Top Performers from the past week. These selections will include the Player of the Week and up to 10 others. Choices will consist of players who were finalists for the weekly honor and others who had exceptional individual matches.
